As far as introductions go, you can call me Digit. It's a pleasure to have you here!

If there's one thing I'm interested in, it's games. Over the years, we've seen technology get worse, though: Killing off peer-to-peer servers, games locked on old hardware that's no longer made, prices rising despite more copies being sold than ever, and more.

Every day I see so many interesting games made by artists that don't get the attention they deserve, while major and often beloved franchises get strip-mined for every cent of potential at the cost of both the IP and the fans that love it.

I also see patterns of the world getting worse, with services moving to subscriptions, the death of ownership, everything currently being pushed to integrate AI even if it sabotages the original product, and endless consolidation resulting in job losses of the very people who make the industry possible at all.

There is no singular consistent through line for what you'll see here except for the fact that it will be about games and technology. One week may be industry analysis, and the next it may be about open-source alternatives to give you ownership back over your life, and then a review for a game or system that I found nifty.

I hope that wherever I take this site, you find it enriching and interesting. There is a whole world to learn about and appreciate through its ups and downs, and whether you read one story or one hundred of them, I appreciate that.

As far as general guidelines go: You'll never find generative AI on this website (if you do, let me know so I can remove it!), and there will be no ads, no subscription fee, no paywalls, no sponsored product placement, no outside parties trying to influence the site. Nothing.

I believe that the best internet is an open one where people have access to information to make informed decisions, and the point of an online interconnected superhighway is that it is connected. I choose to take a sizeable loss on running this blog so that it will stay that way as long as I can possibly afford to have one, and in turn you can read what I find valuable here without interruption or conniving motives. Use it, share what you find valuable, and consider it a public good.

If you ever feel inclined to support my work, feel free to become a member of the page. There are absolutely no benefits aside from supporting a source you like, but know that I appreciate your assistance in making this site more sustainable and maybe one day profitable, so that I can work on it more and hopefully you and others can get more out of it.

> Little disclaimer: Ghost.io website hosting charges based on the number of members as I understand it. There is no benefit here to being a member on the site. Please only make an account if it is to financially support me to keep costs low. I turned off nearly every analytic because I think privacy is good, giving me your email for nothing benefits no one.
